Beyond necessity, our home’s bathroom marks the start and end of every day. Among the rooms we have in the home, it is arguably one of the most important. An intrinsically personal room, keeping the bathroom in perfect shape for your needs is essential to keeping on track with our self-care routines. It’s a space for hygiene, relaxation, and meditation. Here are some design details to consider to keep you on your self-care routine.

Technology for Entertainment and Relaxation

Including audio and visual entertainment in your bathroom feeds your need for information and entertainment, as well as relaxation. For information and entertainment purposes, you can play the radio, news, or your favourite podcast as you prepare to start your day. To cap off your day, stream soothing audio and visuals to prepare you for bed. If your bathroom doesn’t overlook your ideal view, then including a TV is a great alternative.

Embrace the Outdoors, Indoors

Incorporate as much of the natural world as you can to craft a peaceful and zen-like ambiance. Take advantage of the nature outside of your home with windows or include indoor plants if this isn’t possible. Compliment the greenery with other earthy tones and textures, such as browns, greys, marble and woods.

Bathroom Lounging and Leisure

Bathroom lounging doesn’t have to be reserved just for the bathtub. In spacious rooms, include a chaise or seating for an added touch of leisure and relaxation while you pamper yourself. In smaller spaces, use tall and long mirrors to create the illusion of a large space and take full advantage of incoming sunlight. Large mirrors make it easier for you to recite your daily personal mantras, setting you up for tackling the new day’s challenges.

Focus on the Pièce de Résistance

Bathtubs and showers are the focal point of the bathroom. As large pieces taking up the most space, it’s what the eye gravitates to first. Ensure significant amounts of light illuminates that area of the bathroom and consider using as much bright white as possible to emphasize the idea of immaculate cleanliness. Using contrasting colours, such as black or dark greys add bold statements in a bright room. Take advantage of your space with his and her sinks, which keeps your personal space extra personal.
