Mount Pleasant is one of Vancouver’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Located along Southeast False Creek, the area spans east from Cambie Street towards the point where Broadway, Kingsway, and Main Street meet. Known for its eclectic stores, culinary hot spots, and sense of community, the area attracts first-time home-buyers, families, and young urban professionals looking to establish roots in a growing part of the city.
Places to Shop
Just off Main Street on 12th Avenue is a beautifully curated boutique called Nouvelle Nouvelle. The local shop has on-trend clothing and accessories for both men and women. The collection supports independent and up-and-coming lines, and also stocks everyday staples.
La Bicicletta Pro Shop
For cycling enthusiasts, La Bicicletta Pro Shop is a local go-to. Specializing in road and triathlon bikes and gear, the shop carries top brands like Cervelo, Colnago, and Felt. But don’t be intimidated by the “pro” in La Bicicletta’s name: the shop’s helpful staff and their Tuesday night club rides in the summer welcome every level of cyclist, from beginner to pro.
Places to Eat
Fresh, excellent Italian food is available at Savio Volpe, a traditional Italian osteria. Their pastas are made by hand in-house, and meals are cooked in the wood-fired grill and rotisserie. With a focus on quality and simplicity, the food, drinks and restaurant setting are both contemporary and timeless.
A popular spot with locals, Nuba in Mount Pleasant offers signature Lebanese fare, fresh-squeezed juices, coffee, and more. Taking cues from 1970s design, the restaurant’s bright colours and geometric designs create a welcoming feel. A favourite is Najib’s Special: crispy cauliflower tossed with lemon and sea salt, and served with tahini.
Earnest Ice Cream
With mouth-watering flavours like Butter Pecan, Whiskey Hazelnut, and Salted Caramel, Earnest Ice Cream has customers lined up out the door on most days. The local business focuses on small batches, allowing them to experiment with fresh and new ingredients like elderflower. The shop also uses environmentally friendly reusable glass jars for their ice cream pints.

Originally built for Expo ’86, the unique globe structure is a Vancouver icon that lights up the city skyline at night.
Southeast False Creek Seawall
Walk, jog, or bike the Southeast False Creek Seawall. The area has stunning views of downtown Vancouver with sitting areas along the path. When you’re ready for a break, stop in for refreshments and take in the view at Tap & Barrel, one of the popular gastropubs along the way.
Schools in the Area
Mount Pleasant is home to a wide range of arts and music schools. Goh Ballet Academy is Vancouver’s premier dance academy, receiving international recognition for the dance education and artistic experience it offers.
