There were two reasons why I chose Sotheby's: 1. We are fortunate to have a unique piece of property on Pender Island and felt the average potential buyer looking for a rec property wouldn't (A) spend the kind of money we felt the property was worth and (B) at our price their attitude would probably be "for another $200k I can get a 3 bedroom house". Sotheby's has a reputation for presenting interesting/quality properties and we wanted that international buyer who likes the best. Needless to say with Covid that never happened. 2. I was dissatisfied with the local real estate office as "they didn't get it" and thought our price was not only too high but that it would scare local agents off and also potential buyers. I wanted a more professional sales person and that was certainly true in doing business with Dean. Reality was that many of the local agents showed the property more than once. On more that one occassion I was on the property when they were making their presentations. It was appalling how ill prepared/informed they were. Dean has been an excellent communicator and orchestrated all viewings very well. Working with Dean was a pleasure and rewarding. At $700k we were a long way off our listing price of $788k but Dean and I both knew that was very high for the market. I would happily do business again with Dean/Sotheby's.Rick Griffiths
