This property, dating back to 1923, underwent a renovation project led by a renowned architect to build his own residence, highlighting the contemporary aesthetics and functionality of a home to be lived in on a daily basis. This project received two important architecture awards (Best Private Project and Renovation in Residential Construction) and sought to recognize and identify history and contemporary values ??with elegance, sensitivity and practicality. The project faced a great challenge, with the aim of understanding the techniques and materials of the time, which were mandatory for this type of construction. Therefore, natural, ecological and low-energy materials were used. Care was taken to preserve the exterior walls, built in handmade brick and stone, which were covered with limestone sand mortar mixed with crushed cork to improve the thermal factor. All the interior spaces of this 414 m² house were completely renovated and are lit by the windows of the old façade. On the ground floor, where we find spacious living and dining rooms, a fully equipped kitchen with MIELE appliances, a guest bathroom and an office, the introduction of a wooden structure was the solution found to compartmentalize and define the different spaces, separating them into a kind of open space with discreet borders.Steps were carved into this same structure to access new modules on the upper floors, which include the master suite, two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, laundry room and terrace, as well as a large attic with a full bathroom and the possibility of adding a master suite, another bedroom and multipurpose room. Natural tones predominate, creating a bright, spacious and serene environment, in harmony with the exterior, one of the most prominent areas of the house. In the garden, a wooden deck supporting the dark-toned swimming pool underscores the elegance of the space, where flowers and plants add a touch of colour and increase comfort and privacy. There is also a garage with a charger for electric vehicles and an annex building measuring 25 m², which can be used as a gym, workshop, among other things. The result is a Portuguese house, designed in a refined and formal style, where contemporary interiors coexist in harmony with the historic structure of the house. The location is a key point for those who value walking distance to the beaches and easy access to various services.
