Glenterra Vineyards is an award winning boutique winery centrally located in the incredibly picturesque Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, an area abundant with wineries, vineyards, breweries, cideries and farms. Located 30 minutes north of Victoria, the Cowichan region has become recognized one of the world’s top culinary destinations, with 29 wineries, a flourishing slow-food culture and one of British Columbia’s best farmers’ markets.
The lush coastal Cowichan Valley has warm, dry summers and mild, moist winters making this area part of Canada's only maritime/ mediterranean climate. Boasting Canada’s warmest mean temperature and most hours of annual sunshine, the Valley provides for a large range of growing conditions for many grape varietals.
The property consists of 16.77 acres with a 4.5 acre organically farmed vineyard which inlcudes Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and an old block planted in 1992 with 40 unique grape varieties from which the winery's popular Vivace white blend and Brio red blend is made from. There are up to approximately 13 acres in which to expand the vineyard. The winery has had a loyal following since its operations began in May 2000. A 3,000 square foot commercial building accommodates all winery production, tasting room and retail as well as the quaint Thistles Cafe with full commercial kitchen and indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the vineyard. The building has 2 washrooms, a separate 20′ x 20′ concrete grape crushing pad, an insulated barrel room, and storage.
Also on the property is a 2,600 square foot 2-level, three bedroom, three bathroom home. The ideal lifestyle business with an excellent location, close to all amenities including world class private schools, outdoor recreation, shopping and only 60 minutes from the Victoria International Airport.
