With consistently high walking scores in the 99th percentile, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal is a verifiable walker\u2019s paradise.<\/p>\n

First settled by the French in the 17th century, Old Montr\u00e9al on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, is home to many of the city\u2019s oldest buildings. Located north of Mount Royal, the quiet, tony, leafy neighbourhood of Outremont was once an independent city, and the birthplace and childhood home of former prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Outremont officially became a part of Montr\u00e9al in 2000, and is known for its beautiful architecture (such as the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montr\u00e9al<\/a>), detached family homes, and neighbourhood parks.<\/p>\n
