Specializing in transforming interiors into timeless environments for modern living, Montana Labelle has quickly established herself as \u201cone to watch\u201d in the Canadian design community, with projects showcased in major publications such as Style At Home Magazine and FASHION Magazine.<\/p>\n

Montana\u2019s home is an impressive monochromatic space filled with lots of different textures and eye-catching art. Situated in the Rathnelly neighbourhood in Toronto, the Madison lofts is a fantastic art deco conversion of a former Toronto Hydro Building. Featuring soaring ceiling heights, Montana makes the most of the vertical space, especially in her home office.<\/p>\n

We sat down with Montana to discuss her real estate experiences and what she loves so much about her home:<\/p>\n

1. Think back to the first place you lived in on your own, what were your walls decorated with?<\/p>\n

\"Montana's<\/center>ML:<\/strong> They were entirely decorated with art that I had made for my entrance application to Parsons. I created this incredible artwork out of old Chanel and Hermes boxes mixed with cardboard. I actually “melted” the boxes onto oversize canvases and mixed it in with melted cardboard. They were\u00a0incredible\u00a0pieces of art that filled the bare white walls of my first ever condo on King Street West in Toronto.<\/p>\n

2. What did you love most about the first place you purchased?<\/p>\n

ML:<\/strong> I loved that it was a blank slate for me to design. It was quite literally an empty white canvas in the sky. Interestingly, this completely came to shape my design aesthetic, as living in this new build caused me to see the beauty of original details and finishings. Consequently, I grew to appreciate original marble fireplaces, and old brick walls – spaces filled with “character”.<\/p>\n

3. How would you describe your interior design style now?<\/p>\n

ML:<\/strong> My interior style is constantly evolving. Every home I visit, hotel I stay at, or fashion collection I see continues to shape my design\u00a0aesthetic. I am continually striving to mix modern and antique to create a luxurious and fashion-influenced\u00a0perspective\u00a0on style and design. I appreciate the richness of mixing textures, furniture and\u00a0colours\u00a0in unexpected ways to create something unique.<\/p>\n

4. What room do you spend the most time in now?<\/p>\n

ML:<\/strong> Definitely\u00a0my home office!<\/p>\n

ML:<\/strong> Amazing fireplaces, original herringbone floors, and huge windows.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_9344\"<\/center>6. What does your dream home look like?<\/p>\n

ML:<\/strong> Super modern exterior with classical interior elements. I love to mix modern and vintage, so I would like to see the same in my dream home. Think Iron Man’s mansion meets original 1960’s\u00a0Parisian\u00a0apartment.<\/p>\n

Beginning her design career apprenticing for Toronto\u2019s top design firm, Gluckstein Design, Montana Labelle\u2019s passion for the design industry flourished. After completing her interior design degree at Parson\u2019s the New School for Design in New York City, Labelle returned to her hometown Toronto to instill the city with her invigorated sense of design and style imparted through her teachings in the inspiring urban metropolis of Manhattan.<\/p>\n

Since launching her eponymous design and lifestyle firm in 2013, her company has garnered a tremendous following in the city, seeing its projects published in the Globe and Mail, Style At Home Magazine and FASHION Magazine to name a few. The company\u2019s breadth of influence spans from residential redesigns to commercial projects to bespoke furniture design. Labelle\u2019s design business has continued to expand with clients seeking out her instantly recognizable luxurious and fashion influences perspective on style and design.<\/p>\n
