That’s why the population growth rate of the Thompson Okanagan is the highest in British Columbia, reaching 2.5% in 2006-2007, and bringing it to over 460,000 residents. Over the past few years, the economy of this region has changed from a dependence on resources -- especially forestry -- to a diverse mix that includes forestry, agriculture, wine cultivation, manufacturing, post-secondary education, trades and the retirement industry.
