With 35 years business experience and 15 years in residential real estate, Barb is a recognized leader and performer in Calgary's real estate market - frequently sought out for her expertise on market trends and pricing, her market knowledge of Calgary's west-side, country residential and inner city communities and her extensive knowledge and experience with condominiums. Barb loves to share her expertise with others and mentor newer agents, thus her evolution to the team leader of "richardsongroupyyc" in 2019 - with the objective of continuing to build and leverage Barb's expertise and contacts in the business, while growing her team and business with other "like minded talented real estate professionals" who focus on delivering exceptional knowledge, service and results to our clients. Whether working with investors, first time home buyers, downsizers or buyers looking to move up in the market, Barb's exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of the local market and savvy deal negotiation skills make her one of Calgary and Sotheby's top performing agents.

Barb has a Commerce degree from the University of Calgary, and has lived and worked her entire career in Calgary. After 20 years in the technology and venture capital sectors, Barb moved into real estate, leveraging her strong investment experience and marketing skills with her passion for real estate. Barb joined Sotheby’s in May 2013 after a successful career at Royal LePage, and quickly became one of the top performers in the Sotheby’s Calgary office. Barb is also on the Board of Directors for Calgary Attainable Housing - a not for profit organization striving to provide home ownership to low income Calgarians, and is the co-host of the Calgary Real Estate podcast with her daughter Kim Poffenroth.

In the past 5 years, Barb and her team have sold over a quarter billion dollars of real estate in the Calgary and surrounding area marketplace. Barb's team consistently sell between 60-90 properties each year across a range of price points from $200k up to $4.0-$5.0M. The team's average saleprice is 2021 was just under $1.0M. The majority of the teams business comes comes from referrals and repeat business. Barb's team have expertise in country residential properties which represents close to half of the team's sales results - primarily in Springbank, Elbow Valley and Bearspaw communities. The team also have extensive expertise in Calgary's west end communities, Calgary's deep south markets, and inner city townhome and condominium markets. Three team members are certified condominium specialists and two team members are Certified Luxury Home Marketing specialists. This fabulous team of agents includes: Jackie Thorogood, Kym Barton, Kodette LaBarbera and Kim Poffenroth.

With sellers, Barb and her team have a strong and proven methodology to help prepare a home for sale to achieve maximum value in the shortest timeframe. As a result of savvy pricing and in-depth preparation the Richardson Group team do with sellers to ensure their property is properly presented to achieve maximum value, year after year the Richardson Group can boast selling properties at higher saleprice/listprice than Calgary's "average", as well as shorter days on market relative to industry averages in their respective communities.

Barb has additional certification from the Calgary Real Estate Board for condominium sales, enabling her to provide critical expertise to condominium and villa clients, valuable as she frequently works with baby boomers downsizing from a large family home or acreage property to a condominium or villa. Barb also possesses strong knowledge of the country residential sector, having raised her family in Springbank she understands the unique attributes for selling or buying residential estates in particular in Rockyview Community west of Calgary.

Barb’s approach is based on working closely with her clients to understand their needs and interests, then applying her expertise and knowledge of the industry, the local markets and dynamics impacting pricing and "consumer demand", and the micro markets within Calgary to provide true leadership and guidance to her trusted clients in their real estate needs.
