For 21 years Alan worked in the fast paced world foreign exchange trading in Toronto and New York, running the Canadian and Australian broker desks for a multinational company. In 2003 Alan and his family traded the big city for small town and moved to Fernie, BC. Becoming a realtor in 2004 started a 20 year career as one of Fernie’s top realtors and led him to become deeply involved in the community. Alan has served on Fernie City Council, numerous housing and civic committees and currently serves on the board of Tourism Fernie. In addition, he is a partner in a design and build construction company, building high end custom homes. All of this has provided a varied experience and unique perspective that he brings to his real estate practice. All work and no play could make Alan a dull boy, so finding time in the mountains on skis or his mountain bike always puts a smile on the face.
“People thought we were crazy to move to a small town knowing no one, having no jobs and with 10 and 12 year old kids! Twenty years later, I can look back with both pride and enjoyment at the way this adventure has turned out and the part I have been allowed to play in people’s lives. A vibrant real estate career based on hundreds of repeat and referral clients while becoming a trusted advisor in
one of the most significant decisions people make in their lives, is both humbling and empowering.
I believe my role as a realtor is to bring both a local and a wide-ranging perspective to understand the complexities of the market to both buyers and sellers. To listen and communicate in a way that relates to their needs and objectives, then successfully facilitate and negotiate to meet those needs. Ensuring the highest level of knowledge and comfort, so people feel confident and excited in their decision. These are the central philosophies in my service. People place a high degree of trust in their realtor, this is a trust and a responsibility I take very seriously.
The Kootenay region is one of BC’s most beautiful, with mountains, rivers, lakes and charming towns creating a very special place to live, work and play. It’s full of interesting people, arts and culture, every outdoor activity possible and moves at a pace where people wave at their neighbours or take the time to stop and talk. Small towns and medium cities with every type of property, from family neighbourhoods, sprawling ranches, downtown historical homes and mountain modern architectural masterpieces.
It's been my pleasure to live, work and travel in this paradise for the past 2 decades. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing how I can be of service in your Kootenay real estate journey” …
