Closely located to where the First Transcontinental Railroad was joined in 1869, Ogden served as a major railway hub throughout much of the Beehive State's history; in the late 1800's it served as a major passenger junction for cross-country railway travelers making their way across the United States. Today, the greater Ogden area still handles a substantial deal of freight-train traffic, making it a busy location for commerce and manufacturing.
