Property Description

Welcome to 111 Margaret Drive. This 1+ acre generational property is truly one of a kind. Located in the heart of Craigleith in the Blue Mountains, perched above Georgian Bay near the base of Alpine and Craigleith Ski Clubs, this private setting is truly magnificent. Expansive yet welcoming, the interlocking stone drive culminates in the thoughtful “Porte Cochere” at the front of the home, creating a sense of arrival that accentuates the grand design that lies within.

Facing due south with a sprawling backyard and a view of Georgian Bay, the property backs onto Crown land of Craigleith Provincial Park, land that will never be developed, providing a feeling of expanded acreage and privacy.

The inspiration behind the build was to create a unique, generational vacation home that could support a large and expanding family. With the backdrop of the escarpment to the south and Georgian Bay to the North, the design of this handcrafted log home was forged in 2000.

Margaret Drive is a small cul de sac with unique, private, estate-size properties. Within walking distance to both Alpine and Craigleith Ski Clubs, homes in the area are very desirable.

This home, its location, Georgian Bay and Escarpment views will leave you breathless. Constructed with the utmost care and attention to detail, this home was designed and built by Modern Log Homes Ltd.

To many, a handcrafted log home is the only “true” log home. The logs are still in unique natural form, the only alteration being that they have been hand stripped of the outer bark and part or all of the “cambium” or inner bark layer. Handcrafted log building has an aesthetic advantage – each log of every building is unique and distinctly different from every other – creating a unique building every time.

Synonymous with beauty and artistry. Each log is tapered, hand-peeled, and set in place. Oftentimes, large character posts are a defining architectural feature of handcrafted log homes. The hand-hewn texture and variation in log diameter along with the necessary chinking adds rustic authenticity to handcrafted log homes.

The end result is a stunning 5,000-square-foot log home that will last centuries and reduce the industrial footprint of pollution, energy consumption and waste.

The main floor features an expansive open-concept layout, including a huge eat-in kitchen with a 12.5’ island with seating for six. An impressive sunken 2-story great room with 25’ cathedral ceilings and stone fireplace welcoming guests with huge picture windows providing incredible winter escarpment views. A dining room overlooking the great room built for entertaining family & friends and all your apres ski gatherings. The main floor finishes off with 2 primary bedrooms with ensuites, an office/den for quieter moments and a mudroom with a powder room.

The upstairs is no less remarkable. The massive family/games room loft area allows for endless possibilities for family fun and gatherings. A place for the kids to play in abundance. There are also 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Georgian Bay views, and a walkout upper deck to enjoy the views.

The lower level offers untapped development opportunity with an additional 2,700 sq ft with 10 ft ceilings, roughed-in fireplace and rough in plumbing for washroom!

The property sits on over an acre, with an incredible backyard awaiting your personal touch. Whether it’s a pool, tennis/pickleball court or creating a garden oasis, this property is a stunner and truly best in class.
