At the very edge of the Landborg escarpment in Laröd, where the land drops dramatically towards the Øresund Strait, stands a residence unlike almost anything else on the market. More than 416 square metres are distributed across three levels that follow the natural slope, supported by a row of pillars extending towards the water. From here, uninterrupted views unfold in two directions across the strait towards the island of Ven, onward to Kronborg Castle on the Danish coast, and south towards Helsingborg. A home positioned above everything else, yet enjoying complete privacy.


It was originally designed by Jørgen Michelsen, one of the most influential architects of the post-war era and a leading figure at the legendary ARTON Architects, alongside Jørn Utzon. At the time, the site was considered virtually impossible to build on – “five metres of level ground and a ravine.” Michelsen solved the challenge by creating a semi-basement and elevating the house on columns projecting towards the steep slope. The constraints themselves became the guiding concept: a house that climbs with the terrain rather than fighting against it.


Over the years, the property has been carefully refined in the same spirit by the award-winning architect Göran Knabe. White-painted brick, black-painted timber elements, and the same respect for light, lines, and views define the design. The result is an architecture that feels just as natural and timeless today as it did when it first left the drawing board.
