Located in the extreme west of the island, it is the town area with the largest number of inhabitants of Menorca and the seat of the bishopric of the island. Ciudadela or "The Jewel of Stone", with its stone covering the façades of its palaces or paving the alleys of the medieval historical centre, has a small natural port, sheltered by the Tramontana, where the passenger and cargo ships that connect the Isle of Menorca with Mallorca and Barcelona, through regular lines all year round.
Ciudadela is also characterized by its narrow streets, which invite to stroll to the cathedral, a magnificent Catalan Gothic style monument, or the Museo Pintor Torrent with a permanent collection of José Roberto Torrent Prats, and that run between design premises where to enjoy shopping or having a drink in cozy terraces. Each June 23 the city celebrates the Fiestas de Sant Joan, an unavoidable event for the menorquins and thousands of tourists, where the Menorcan horse is the great protagonist.
On the west coast of the island there are various urbanizations set around small coves like Cala Blanca or Santandria. Reaching the south coast, past the Faro D'ARTRUTX, we find the urbanized Cala'n Bosch and Xoriguer, and beyond, in the longest virgin part of the south coast, Cala'n Turqueta, son Saura, Es Talaier, Macarelleta and Macarela. On the north coast, we find the urbanized Cala Morell, the virgin beaches La Vall and El Pilar.
Ciudadela continues to arouse a great interest, both national and international, thanks to its history and heritage, and its privileged environment.
