Benidorm has 69 010 inhabitants (2014), although due to the fact, that a large majority of foreigners are not registered it is estimated that there will be about 100 000 inhabitants during most of the year. 29.3% of the population surveyed in 2007 is of foreign nationality, highlighting the population of British origin and other countries of the European Union.
Benidorm is an eminently tourist city thanks to its climate and average temperatures, which oscillate all year round between 10 ºC in winter and 29 ºC that are reached in summer.
Benidorm has experienced since the mid-twentieth century an extraordinary urban transformation, which has made its population go from 5000 inhabitants at the end of the 50s to the current figure. Benidorm is the Spanish city of skyscrapers per extraordinary and the most famous. Its traffic is an excellent example of a European city better adapted for people with reduced mobility.
It is worth mentioning its two magnificent sandy beaches. Levante Beach is the most favorite area of young people searching fun. Here are concentrated the largest hotels of the city and also offers a wide range of services both water sports, such as bars, restaurants, nightclubs and more. Beach Poniente is quieter and it is considered the most luxurious area for its chill-out terraces, trendy restaurants and some of exclusive beautique hotels.
However, a few minutes from the beaches, there are several theme parks such as the biggest park Terra Mítica, Terra Natura, Agualandia and Aguanatura.
Among the international private schools, the closest ones that stand out, such as Lope de Vega, Costa Blanca International School or Elian's British School.
It has excellent communications with international airports in Alicante (1h 15min) and Valencia (2 hours).
