Area Description

Five districts make up the municipality of Kröslin: the small villages of Spandowerhagen, Hollendorf, and Karrin, located off the main road near the Peene River, and the community centers of Freest and Kröslin. There is much to discover here. The harbors in Freest and Kröslin attract thousands of tourists; those who appreciate peace and pure nature will find it along the smaller villages on the Peene River. Large parts of the municipality are completely under nature protection. For over 100 years, bathers - as they were called back then - have been warmly welcomed in our community. Today, vacationers appreciate the charm of the coastal landscape, which is largely shaped by fishing, away from mass tourism, as well as the proximity to the Baltic Sea islands of Usedom and Rügen and the Hanseatic cities of Greifswald and Stralsund. The municipality of Kröslin is located in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Located just outside the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, the municipality borders the Greifswalder Bodden to the north and the Peene River to the east. The municipality, which covers 22.39 km² and has 1796 inhabitants, includes areas on the mainland as well as the small islands of Greifswalder Oie, Ruden, Dänholm, and the Große and Kleine Wotig. The islands and a large part of the municipality on the mainland are under nature protection.
Today, Kröslin's most prominent feature is its marina. A large maritime facility offers water sports enthusiasts and vacationers attractive recreational opportunities and high-quality services. In the marina, recreational captains can look forward to a large recreational and wellness facility. Small stores, a tapas bar, and a post office are waiting for you there. Furthermore, recreational facilities such as a miniature golf course and a playground are available. Excursions into the surrounding area are possible with bicycles from the local rental station.
