Ingeneous architecture and a magnificent geolocation - a powerful combination!
The soul of the house lies in the mix of the main building blocks : a central mass fireplace with natural stone feeding a hydronic system incorporated in polished concrete floors and a wooden barriered curtain wall with triple pane windows. The German glass wall system Thermco + Raico has proven itself for 25 years now. It includes several non-conductive materials, fasteners and sealed tempered glass, creating multiple thermal breaks. The glass windows include two panes with low emissivity (Low-E) argon fill and soft coats are applied on both sides also reducing solar gain to a minimum. The system is certified by the German "Passivhaus Institute". In addition, the lighting of the house is LED and pre-wiring for solar power on the roof, etc.
In addition to being very economical, this house meets the most strict building standards of energy-efficiency of the Nordic building standards. It was thought out and designed to fully appreciate the environment and the majestic Fjord's sunsets. This unique site is an exclusion from the Saguenay-St-Laurent marine park: a federal and provincial park. Trails of the SEPAQ are a stone's throw away. The home is immediately facing the Fjord which will soon be listed as a UNESCO heritage site. And from the home we can see the tip of the Ste-Marguerite's bay, the legendary salmon river where Beluga whales calve every year - it is truly an amazing sanctuary.
