Finding the right Realtor® for you is important. When interviewing a real estate agent, go beyond statistics and track record; rapport and comfort level are key.  Buying a home means that your real estate agent will be handling a lot of your personal details. Ensuring you feel comfortable and con trust your Realtor® is paramount. There are typically a lot of emotions involved in real estate transactions due to large sums of money, memories and an unlimited amount of other factors so be sure to ask a lot of questions and interview at least three real estate agents.

Here are 15 questions to ask to help choose a real estate agent that best suits you:

1. How long have you been in the business? Can you provide references?

2. What types of properties do you specialize in?

3. Have you won any peer-given awards?

4. What is your commission rate?

5. What are your office hours to handle inquiries and appointments?

6. How familiar are you with the area in which my home is? How familiar are you with the area I’d like to purchase?

7. What are the other listings like in the area in which my home is?

8. If you were to list my property, what price would you suggest?

9. What would you suggest I do to increase the asking price in my home?

10. What do you do to market the property? Do you have a website? Do you advertise, and where?

11. Will you be hiring a professional photographer/videographer, or taking photos yourself using a smartphone or camera?

12. Will you be providing staging services and/or consultation?

13. Are you willing to hold open houses? How many are reasonable to expect? Are you present for showings? Do you use lockboxes?

14. Can I expect regular feedback from showings?

15. Will you terminate the listing agreement if I am not happy?
