A 20-something PR gal by day and blogger by night, Krystin Lee started the lifestyle blog, Suburban Faux Pas to prove that regardless of one’s postal code, a stylish lifestyle can prevail.

Located on a quiet street in Oakville, Ontario, Krystin’s home can only be described as a feast for the eyes. It is bright, light and filled with lots of different materials, metals, textures and it all comes together beautifully. Her home is an absolute reflection of her and is sweetly polished with personal touches.

We sat down with Krystin to discuss her real estate experiences and what she loves so much about her home:

1. Think back to the first place you lived in on your own, what were your walls decorated with?

KL: Believe it or not, it had yellow builder paint, vintage art from Value Village, taped up magazine tear-outs and a surfboard.

2. What did you love most about the first place you purchased?

KL: I was so proud of the first place I owned. I also loved that nobody could tell me what to do – in hindsight, painting my front entrance dark purple was a ludicrous idea. I did that.

3. How would you describe your interior design style now?

KL: I would say it is eclectic, meaning a mixture of different styles. After a trip to Turkey last summer, I’m really finding myself attracted to Moorish influence in design and architecture. Since my home is traditionally focused, adding these elements brings a hint of fun to the space.

4. What room do you spend the most time in now?

KL: We have an open concept main floor so the kitchen is always a hot spot for us to cook, dine, converse and catch up on emails.

5. What is the #1 feature you’d look for in your next home?

KL: Easy! A walk-closet the size of a bedroom!

6. What does your dream home look like?

KL: My dream home would be a navy blue carriage-style home with grey and white accents on the outside. It would be filled with eccentric accents on the inside from our travels around the world.

Krystin Lee is a 20-something Canadian girl with a penchant for all things fashion. While she’d love to say she’s been glamorous from the wee age of 2, she is the first to admit her style has evolved over the years (and certainly for the better).

Krystin had the privilege of completing a fashion and beauty internship with Chatelaine and she knew then that she had found her calling. Since then, she has worked on both the agency and corporate side of Public Relations and Marketing Communications.

Why the “Suburban Faux Pas” you ask? While she has always seen herself as a city girl, she followed her husband out to the ‘burbs and decided to call it home. Unfortunately, her city style never left and she often finds her neighbours puzzled as taking out the trash requires an ensemble as does a post office run or grabbing groceries. Needless to say, her blog is her personal outlet to relate to city slickers and suburban stylistas alike.
